Loft Love – Barbara Littman’s Chelsea Loft

Bright and spacious, I’ve found loft love in interior designer, Barbara Littman’s loft in Chelsea, New York. What is inspiring too, is this 69 year old mother of three with six grandchildren, who hasn’t nestled herself into some comfy little cottage-like atmosphere, but is spreading her wings instead of folding them. She went for a master’s degree in architecture in her 50s. Now that’s encouragement. A woman still on the move, Littman teaches interior and furniture design at Kean University in New Jersey and also at the NJ Institute of Technology.

She purchased this loft in 2009 for just under $4 Million. After two years of renovation, $190,000 to revamp to her taste, and with the aid of New York architect Robert D. Henry, Littman now has the space of her dreams.

What she says of her newly renovated loft space: “When I look out the window, I just love being part of the city. It’s the energy here that’s always been something for me.”

More of this loft at Loftenberg.
