Loft Love – Barbara Littman’s Chelsea Loft

Bright and spacious, I’ve found loft love in interior designer, Barbara Littman’s loft in Chelsea, New York. What is inspiring too, is this 69 year old mother of three with six grandchildren, who hasn’t nestled herself into some comfy little cottage-like atmosphere, but is spreading her wings instead of folding them. She went for a master’s degree in architecture in her 50s. Now that’s encouragement. A woman still on the move, Littman teaches interior and furniture design at Kean University in New Jersey and also at the NJ Institute of Technology.

She purchased this loft in 2009 for just under $4 Million. After two years of renovation, $190,000 to revamp to her taste, and with the aid of New York architect Robert D. Henry, Littman now has the space of her dreams.

What she says of her newly renovated loft space: “When I look out the window, I just love being part of the city. It’s the energy here that’s always been something for me.”

More of this loft at Loftenberg.

Great Inspiration – Books on Interior Design

Looking for great inspiration for your apartment or home interior? Then look no further than an awesome book that features great design ideas by people who know the graceful elements of design. These are often large, coffee-table books, that can become almost as important as your coffee table. They offer inspiration, ideas, thinking that’s out of the box, and make great conversation pieces or great lovely gifts for a loved one interested in design.

American Fashion Designers At Home by Assouline Books. What can be better than fashionable interior design ideas? This book features Kate Spade, Max Azria, Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch and more.

Rooms to Inspire by Annie Kelly is a beautiful collection of interiors with great advice on stylish decorating to make your place feel like home. Annie Kelly is a well known decorator and journalist whose work has been featured in Elle Decor, House Beautiful and Vogue Living. Tim Street-Porter, her husband, is an architectural photographer. This great book is sure to inspire.

A fresh and lovely book by interior designer Victoria Hagan features soft and subtle room decor. “I glean inspiration from all areas of my life…If something stirs an idea or emotion in me, chances are it might show up in my work in some form.”- From the Preface.

Frank Roop, The New Bespoke is a dive into color and the avant-guard. A sure winner when looking for original and eclectic style options for your apartment or home.

Monday Morning Award

You know Mondays, especially ones like today, with rain, cold weather, the threat of snow, yes, I said SNOW people, and just the general “crap, the weekend went too quick” feeling that comes with a Monday? Well, I’ve just been boosted out of this dull-drum of a day by cool designer Carol Ruth Weber of Weberlifedesign who has so graciously just nominated my blog for The Beautiful Blogger Award. I thank her for her kindness and thoughtfulness.

The rules of the award acceptance are to thank the presenter and link to his or her blog, and to nominate and link other blogs that you truly enjoy, re-blog because you just think they’re so awesome and wish you thought of the post sooner, or just genuinely enjoy getting lost in the beauty of the blog they present. Send your nominees a message with a link to your nomination post to let them know how much you appreciate them.

Here are my inspiring design buds, truly beautiful bloggers all:
