I was watching a season one repeat of Friends yesterday and starting thinking about the creative apartments from TV shows I’ve loved over the years. Pondering research online, I found too many to name (or show) but I narrowed down my favorites of the shows that no longer see air time. Choice number three is the character filled (quite literally) New York apartment that Monica had on Friends. This rent-controlled space was young and inspiring, full of color and comfort. Two bedrooms, bath, open kitchen and that huge angled window that opened onto a fire escape/balcony. The view: into the window of the neighboring apartment building belonging to Ugly Naked Guy! Can’t beat that!
My second choice is Frasier‘s studiously elegant beige on white toned Seattle apartment set.
An upper floor = expensive
That huge, huge floor to ceiling window = expensive
A huge balcony = expensive
Three Bedrooms = expensive
And that gorgeous suede couch that Eddie (the dog) loved = expensive
I’m smitten.
But being a chic who would love to hit New York and never leave, my first choice is Carey’s simple and stylish apartment from Sex and the City. I love the open bedroom and seating area. Who wouldn’t love that walk -in closet/dressing room (filled with those famous Carey shoes, $550 Minolo Blahnik‘s)? Love the hard-wood floors throughout. She had windows too, looking out onto a nice street. I always loved the care-free, yet organized, writer’s style of this apartment. And always will.
I fear I’ve left out some really stunning TV apartments. The Gossip Girl NY lofts come to mind, but what can I say? I have my picks. Do any of you have a favorite inspiring TV show apartment?
Unique walls, large windows, open floor plans, vaulting ceilings, pillars, stone, wood, and metal…add them all together for more loft space love. Love this Loblenz loft in Denmark via Peter Hardt Immobilien. Architecturally brilliant.
Who says a loft can’t feel warm? This Bartley Loft in Toledo, Ohio feels warm and inviting with warm tones, soft lighting and rugs. Love the exposed pipe. The windows are gorgeous.

Another New York loft, this time in Soho. The windows and floors, hands down, are to die for. The decor and design options are endless in this space.
Another loft love with a lot of warmth. Colors are soft and lovely and perfect for this Seattle loft. What a view!

Bright and spacious, I’ve found loft love in interior designer, Barbara Littman’s loft in Chelsea, New York. What is inspiring too, is this 69 year old mother of three with six grandchildren, who hasn’t nestled herself into some comfy little cottage-like atmosphere, but is spreading her wings instead of folding them. She went for a master’s degree in architecture in her 50s. Now that’s encouragement. A woman still on the move, 
Littman teaches interior and furniture design at Kean University in New Jersey and also at the NJ Institute of Technology.
She purchased this loft in 2009 for just under $4 Million. After two years of renovation, $190,000 to revamp to her taste, and with the aid of New York architect Robert D. Henry, Littman now has the space of her dreams.
What she says of her newly renovated loft space: “When I look out the window, I just love being part of the city. It’s the energy here that’s always been something for me.”

In 2007 images of Madonna’s luxury apartment in Manhattan showed up in Architectural Digest with good reason. It’s stunning. The architect was Stephen Wand and the interior designer was Madonna’s brother Christopher G. Ciccone (uh? the brother who wrote that nasty book a few years ago???…oh, well…). He calls the design “subdued elegance” with its art deco feel. Love this room.
The kitchen is sleek and fresh feeling…more modern than the rest of the apartment.
The office is so simple and elegant. And Yes!! That is a Picasso!
Madonna says: “I love the office because I can use my fax machine and look at my Picasso at the same time.” I would love that too! More pics here…
