Searching for that right piece of furniture for that wall or corner in your apartment? Consider a vintage chest to refurbish yourself or buy ready. Pick a unique color, like our blue feature in this post, and really set off your space. Pieces here are ideas found on Oak Tree Life and Natty by Design.

Blue Shabby Chic

A bland apartment space can be transformed easily into a cozy blue Shabby Chic haven with a few touches from this popular country design line. The color blue is both soothing, relaxing and promotes rejuvenation in the human spirit, especially when the blue is in the softest of pale shades. Bedroom image via Interior Fans.com

The antique appeal of Shabby Chic furniture and the roughed up finish of this pale blue sink chest and medicine cabinet are perfection in this style of decor. To make it more shabby and chic? Add odd finds from flea markets, like jars, old glassware or china to complete the look. These items can be functional as well for storage or soap containers. Image via Home and Decor.

Adding a heavily quilted and pillowed daybed to any room give an instant seating space or a great place to curl up and read a book or take a nap. Love the mix of blue colors here. Via Coastal Living.

Room of the Week

My room of the week is The Blue Room at Thornewood Castle, located in Lakewood, Washington. This stunning hotel room features highlights of dark and subtle blues in a pristine classic setting. Special notes: The four-poster canopy bed and the 16th Century stained glass windows. I love all the details in this room.

Little trivia on Thornewood: This castle was the featured setting for the ABC mini series movie Stephen King’s Rose Red. Haunting is not out of the question.

New Blue: Turquoise

So yes, I am still on a blue kick, and found a nice site called House of Turquoise that is full of the many delightful shades of blue or highlighting any apartment or home.

Nice use of turquoise/teal colored curtains and fixtures above the table.  Turquoise is a unique color…with a hint of green…

Aqua – turquoise kitchen: pale, fresh, comfy.

Lovely bedroom ideas in turquoise and shades of blue with white from Malabar.

Entry way table with painting and walls in lovely shades we found at House Beautiful.

Love this set up. Incredible design ideas in shades of blue…the dishes and vases especially pleasing to this eye.  Design by Hulya Kolabas.

This James Merrell table is cool and inspiring.
