French country decor is a luxuriously comfortable design option when looking to update your present living space or moving to a new one. French country decor’s design keys are a slightly shabby or rustic looks interlaced with soft, plush linen furniture and pillows. White or soft soft pale color choices and natural wood finished combines to make a French country decor space fresh and beautiful, and always welcoming.
The reuse of old shutters, doors and window frames are key design options for French country decor. For do it yourself people, sand off or remove old paint from doors or window frames and refinish with a soft white wash, leaving an unfinished or shabby look. Dried hydrangea flowers in white vases or pitchers add a nice touch. Not crazy about dried flowers (like me)? Opt for real looking silk flowers from local art and craft supply stores. Baskets and pillows in soft pale shades complete the French country decor set perfectly. (see below)
I’m not sure I’d ever want to leave this French country decor bedroom. Love the bed and white linens, the oriental carpet, the Bergere style chair, the softly textures walls, and the chandelier of course! Again, shades of white and ivory complete a French country decor look.

Our choice for Room of the Week this week features this modern design with a lot of favorites built in. The herringbone wood floors are gorgeous. We love chandeliers, of course, and the huge vintage mirrors are lovely. Victorian touches in architecture make it grand.
